Interview with author and NYU professor, Niobe Way

Niobe Way is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. She truly listens and mirrors and models what it means to be an emotionally honest and generous human being. Not only is she wicked smart, but she has the most tender heart.

Sadly, our connection was unstable (not emotionally), so there's a bit of a delay, which I think we handled pretty well, but in some spots, it's hard to understand what is being said. That's why I spent hours and hours typing out subtitles. I didn't want anyone to miss one word of her brilliance. Oh, and please buy her book, DEEP SECRETS: Boys' Friendships and the Crisis of Connection, for yourself, for your friends, for your sons, for your friends' sons, and get ready to underline and earmark every page.

Thank you, Peggy Orenstein, for pointing me in Niobe's direction, and thank you, Michael C. Reichert, for making the actual connection over email.
