The mother focus groups moved me.

I saw up close and personal how passionate these women are about raising their young boys and empowering them to embrace their full range of emotions. They expressed their frustration and anger about teachers, friends, neighbors, and their spouses tamping down their boys’ feelings. They are pissed. They feel powerless to take on male cultural norms by themselves.

Then came the moment of truth for me.

Kimmi started to tell these mothers about her program. These women got swept up in the same tidal wave of energy, passion and intelligence that is Kimmi. They were moved to action. “Sign me up! My son and I need this!” echoed throughout Kimmi and Ethan’s living room.

This program must be built. And I must be a part of it.

I will have to stop writing the book proposal I’ve been working on for the past 6 months to dedicate myself to this.
