Set an Example for Young Boys

Catherine Newman, writer, dancer, teacher and TV producer, posted Michael Phelps’ recent ESPN interview on Facebook about how he feels during the pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

She writes:

”This is an extraordinary, vulnerable, and incredibly powerful share from a man who is also the most decorated Olympian of all time and won more gold medals than anyone in history.

I keep seeing all these articles about how men don't want to wear masks because they feel like it's a sign of weakness. Seriously? You wanna know what strength is? It's this. It's owning and sharing your truth, no matter what other people are going to think or say. Bravo. Read the piece. So much respect for this man.

And for what it is worth, I truly believe that we as a society have made it incredibly hard for men to be real and we need to celebrate it when they are.”

You want to know my truth? How am I doing? How am I handling quarantine and the global pandemic? Put it this way: I’m still breathing.
